Our grandfather, Walter Boughton, died from ALS in 1993. After his death, his friends formed the Walter Boughton ALS Research Fund, which raised over $750,000 over many years. Years later, in 2013, we created the Walter Boughton Foundation to replace the old Walter Boughton ALS Research Fund, maintaining the same goals to support patients with ALS and the researchers working to find a cure. 100% of the money we raise goes directly to research and patient care. We work closely with the Les Turner ALS Foundation and the Les Turner ALS Research and Patient Center at Northwestern Medicine. In just five years, we have raised over $366,000. Together with the earlier efforts of the Walter Boughton ALS Research Fund, we have raised over $1,000,000 for ALS research and patient care.
We are also happy to be partnering with the Les Turner ALS Foundation to support the Walter Boughton Foundation Patient and Family Services Grant Program. This program gives financial support to people with ALS for special equipment, home modifications, and more.
